Nonetheless, you have the freedom to choose any program of your choice once you are able to explain to the visa officer, why you choose this program and how it will benefit you in your future endeavors.
When choosing a program, you must consider the duration of the program and your educational expenses. The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has advised that you show at least one (1) years’ worth of financing for your tuition and living expenses (CAD $10,000 per year).
To put it more direct, if you do not have the money to cover your tuition and living expenses for a two (2) or three (3) year program, it is best to choose a program that is eight (8) months to one (1) year in tenure for a better chance of approval. However, you are able to apply for the program of your choice, regardless of the length of study once you can prove to the visa officer that you are financially able to support yourself while studying in Canada.

Apply for the Canada Study Permit

2. Complete our online form
Complete our online form using either your phone, laptop, desktop or tablet and click submit. This will send your information to us.
3. We complete your application
After we complete your visa application, we will send it to your email so that you can check it for error. If you found any mistake, we will make the necessary changes and have you recheck it.

Once you verify that your application is correctly filled out, we will pay the visa fee and submit your visa application to Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada. After we submit your application and pay the visa fee, you will receive a confirmation email to do a biometric. A biometric allow visa officers to screen applicants for prior criminal convictions.
As soon as you received the email to get your biometric done, we will schedule an appointment for you. The biometric is done at the Canadian visa application Centre nearest to you. On the morning of your appointment, you should take your passport and the biometric letter that you received in your email. After you get your biometric done, you can log on to your account that was created on Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada to check your application status on a day to day basis, or we will check it for you and update you regularly.
When Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada finish processing your application, they will send you an email to let you know if your visa is approved or denied. If your visitor visa is approved, you will have to send your passport with DHL to the embassy.

Ensure you have all the information needed to complete your application before visiting the office. The information needed are stated below as follows:
Spouse’s full name, date of birth, address, and occupation. Spouse information is needed if you are married or in a common-law relationship.
Parents full name, marital status, date of birth, address, and occupation. Even if your parents are deceased, we will still need their name for the application process. If you don’t know anything about your parent, you can apply without their information as this will not reduce your chances of getting your visa approved.
Children full name, marital status, date of birth, address and occupation. Even If your children are deceased, we will still need their name for the application process.
Step-children full name, marital status, date of birth, address and occupation. Whether your stepchild/stepchildren are living with you or not, their information is still required. However, if you don’t know anything about your step child/children, you can apply without their information. This will not reduce your chance of getting your visa approved.
We will need the name of the last two (2) companies you worked for including the: address, job title, employment start date and end date. If you don’t remember all the information about your previous employment, you can apply without it. This will not reduce your chances of getting your visa approved.

Most times, applicants don’t have the funds to cover their tuition and living expense, which, as a result, generally leads to their denial.
Before you decide to start your journey of studying in Canada, ensure that you know how much your tuition and living expenses will cost to have the funds available to pay for these expenses. A visa officer can immediately know without a doubt whether an applicant can pay for their tuition and living expenses based on the amount of money that is in their bank account or their sponsor bank account. If you do not have enough money to cover your tuition and living expenses, the visa officer will deny you due to insufficient funds to maintain yourself or any family member that will accompany you to Canada.
Though you will be working while studying in Canada, this should not be entirely relied upon to pay your tuition and living expenses, as you are only entitled to work 20 hours per week, and you might not get enough hours to work. The money that you earned from working in Canada can be used for necessities. This is why IRCC is adamant that you should have enough money to cover your tuition and living expenses.
When choosing a program, ensure that you dialogue with the school to help you select a program that aligns with your qualifications or work experiences. For example, if you have a degree or work experience in Mechanical Engineering and decide to pursue a nursing program, the visa officer might deny you because they do not see how the program that you have chosen will benefit you based on your qualification or work experience. As such, it is best to choose a program that aligns with your qualifications and or work experience, especially if you have been in the same job for a couple of years. You can choose any program of your choice once you are able to explain how the program will benefit you in the future.
Most applicants that apply for a study permit main intention is to apply for permanent residency at the end of their studies. However, you shouldn’t give the visa officer the impression that you do not plan to leave Canada at the end of your studies even though your sole intention is to apply for permanent residency. There is a process to apply for permanent residence under the Canadian Experience Class, and If you are not eligible, you will have to leave Canada whenever your study permit expires. If the visa officer comes to the realization that you do not plan to leave Canada at the end of your stay, they will deny your study permit application.
There are several forms that must be properly completed, along with multiple supporting documents that you must submit to the Canadian Embassy to get your study permit approval. Many applicants have tried to complete their study permit application by themselves, making minor mistakes and failing to submit some of the required documents thus resulting in a large number of study permit denial. The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) does not tolerate simple mistakes; once a form and/ or a document is missing, your application will not be placed on hold, nor will they send you an email for the missing copy. So, if you did not submit your police record along with your application, you are automatically denied.
