Purpose of Travel

  • You need a copy of the death certificate for the person who died. This is mandatory by the embassy.

PLEASE NOTE: The letter from the funeral home cannot be used.

  • You only need the hotel name, address, and contact number for the application. If you dont have a hotel to visit, we suggest a hotel when you apply.
  • You need an invitation letter if you are attending a graduation, wedding, business meeting. convention, training, etc.
  • You need a letter from the doctor/medical facility who is in the care of your relative.

Ensure that you take all the main documents mentioned above to the Embassy on the morning of your appointment. Though the visa officer may not ask you for all of those documents, ensure that you have them in hand. Many applicants have testified that they had brought their job letter to the Embassy and the visa officer did not ask for it. However on their second interview, the visa officer requested to view said document. Truthfully, the visa officer does not have to ask you for all of your supporting documents but in the cases of suspicion, they might ask you for a job letter. As such, it is best to take all your supporting documents because the visa officer can request any of these documents at any point during your interview; if you fail to present a requested document, it may result in visa denial.

STEP 5

Prepare for your U.S Visa interview

In the interview, make sure you answer the questions accurately and in a complete sentence. Here is an example of a successful interview.

U.S Visa Granted

Interview between the visa officer and Kimberly

Visa Officer

Kimberly

Kimberly was granted a US visa because she demonstrated, to the visa officer, that she has strong ties in Jamaica. Everyone’s situation is different; anyone can get a visa regardless of their status.

At the end of an interview at the U.S Embassy the visa officer will make a decision and provide you with a colored slip. There are three(3) types of colored slips. Click on each colored slip listed below to see the purpose of each.

Your visa is approved if you receive white slip. It takes seven (7) working days for the Embassy to stamp your US visa in your passport. After the visitor visa is stamped in your passport, the Embassy will either return it by DHL or pick it up at the Document Service Centre depending on the mode of pick-up you have chosen.

If you receive a pink slip, the Embassy is requesting additional documentation to process your visa application. The pink slip does not mean that you were denied a visa but rather, that your visa application requires other documentation or information for the processing of your visa visitor. For example, if you were arrested and declared it in the interview, the visa officer might request a letter from the court.

A green slip, indicates that you were denied a US visa.

How soon can I reapply for my U.S. Visa, after denial?

At Expedite Travel Services, we know how disappointing it can be when someone got denied a US visa. You can reapply the same day once you can provide new information or documents that you did not provide in the interview. However, it’s best to wait between Six (6) months to one (1) year to try your luck again because if you reapply too quickly, and your situation has not changed, they will deny you.

These common factors cause applicants to get denied a US visa most time: ineligibility of the applicant, not answering the questions correctly, poor documentation, and improper structuring of the application. A visa officer can deny you based on how you answered the interview questions, along with the information you provided on your application. For example, suppose on the application, you stated that you are unemployed. In that case, this will suggest that you are not working, and if you are not working, this will indicate that you will not be able to pay for your trip. Even though you might have money in your savings to pay for your trip, the visa officer still wants to know that you are employed. Regardless of how much money you have in your savings, the visa officer would like to know how you accumulate the money and, if you’re not working, how did you accumulate the money?

Did you know that a person can meet all the requirements and still get denied a U.S. visitor visa? Wondering why?

Everyone is not going to be approved a visa on their first visit to the Embassy. Look at it this way the visa officer might have a bad day, and he just denies you for no reason, even when you are fully qualified based on your ties to your country of residence. Luckily, some persons will get their visa the first time they apply. Simultaneously, some persons will visit the Embassy up to four (4) times before they are eventually issued a US visitor visa.

On numerous occasions, most persons who have been to the Embassy must have realized that some of the visa officers deny all most every person they interview. At the same time, some of them are lenient in that they issue several visas. Perhaps you are saying that I don’t want to go to window number ten (10). He denies everyone. I want to go to window number 2, as he seems to be the one giving away the visa. We are all guilty of that.

A visa denial is not the end of the world. You can try again; hopefully, you will get a visa this time around. Even though you will be disappointed, keep optimistic; everything happens for a reason. Kimaya is one of our successful applicants. She got denied a visa the first time she applied. Nonetheless, she contacted us within a year and reapplied without changing one bit of the previous information, and luckily she was granted a visa. Whenever you are ready to apply for a visitor visa, one of our visa specialists will provide you with the best advice and guidance on how we can increase your chances of obtaining a visa on your next US visa application.

U.S. Visa Refused

Interview between the visa officer and James

Visa Officer

James

James was denied a US visa because he did not demonstrate to the visa officer that he has strong ties to Jamaica.

James got denied a US visitor visa because he didn’t convince the visa officer that he has enough ties in his home country that will compel him to return home after a short visit to the US. In reality, a visitor visa is not hard to get. However, a lot of people overstayed their visitor visas. Because of this, the visa officers scrutinize each application thoroughly to ensure that you have enough ties that will compel you to return home at the end of your short stay. If James chooses to reapply, he should wait until his current situation has changed.

When someone gets denied a visa, they can reapply at any time. However, before James reschedule another interview, he should understand that the main reason why he got rejected a visitor visa is that he didn’t convince the visa officer that he would return to his home country after a short stay.

From our experience, we recommend that James wait at least one (1) year before reapplying for a visa. When James decides to reapply, he will have to demonstrate what significant changes have happened in his life within the last year? If nothing has changed, he might get denied a visa again.

I want to apply for a U.S visa, and I want to be sure that I will be granted a visa.

To qualify for a US visitor visa, you must prove, beyond doubt, to the visa officer that you have strong ties to your home country that will compel you to return home after a short visit to the US.

While such strong ties may vary from person to person, they generally include your home, job, or relationship with friends and family. During your visit to the embassy, the visa officers will thoroughly review your visa application to see the circumstances surrounding your travel plans, family ties, and job, as well as other connections to your home country. Once you can convince the visa officer that you have strong ties to your home country that will compel you to return home after a short visit to the United States, they will have no problem to grant you a US visa. If the visa officer has any doubts about the information you put on the application or how you answered the questions, they will deny you. Many applicants had obtained a visitor visa and did not adhere to the visa terms and ended up overstaying in the United States, and this is why a visitor visa is so hard to obtain at times. But in reality, a visitor visa is not hard to get. The visa officer wants to have confidence in you that you will return home after a short stay. Many applicants had overstayed their visitor visas. This is why you have to convince the visa officer that you will return home after a short visit.

On the other hand, even though many applicants specifically state that they are traveling to the US for a short stay to visit friends and family, they ended up overstaying or working. In reality, if you are operating a shop, and every time a customer enters the shop, they steal something from you. I’m sure you are going to put measures in place to vet every customer that enters your shop so that you can know who the culprits are. If you have any doubts beyond reasonable suspicion, you will not allow this person inside your shop. Similarly, if you are lucky to obtain a US visitor’s visa, please adhere to the terms of the visitor visa so that more persons can get a visitor visa whenever they decide to apply, due to the excellent track record of previous applicants.

At Expedite Travel Services, we have some of the most qualified and experienced visa specialists that will help you demonstrate to the visa officer that you have strong ties to your home country.

I have always find filling out forms pretty daunting and tiresome. I dreaded the whole idea and many times opportunities would pass just because of this ordeal that I found to be pretty bothersome. Ive been wanting to apply for my parent's visa for years and it was going two years I have been putting off reapplying for my son's stolen visa. My fears and woes completely dissipated when a friend of mine told me about ETS. She spoke with such confidence and conviction that this agency was legitimate and effective. She sang praises of the customer service, follow up process and was delighted to inform me of the success rate. I somehow felt the assurance that this is the place I should trust to take care of my parent's visa application process and I must say that I am satisfied. All three applicants had a hassle fee process and now holders of 10year US visas. We are happy we chose Expedite Travel Service and we certainly would recommend everyone to put their minds at ease and have the competence team deliver on their behalf. It's all worth it!
